Kolkata, June 15: After Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress came back with a huge mandate to power in the 2021 West Bengal Assembly election defeating the BJP, the ruling part in the state has renewed its contract with election strategist Prashant Kishor and IPAC till 2026 state Assembly election. There are also reports that Prashant Kishor will play a crucial role in placing Mamata in national politics in 2024 general election against BJP.
IPAC to continue working for TMC
Just before the results of the West Bengal Assembly elections were announced, election strategist Prashant Kishor surprised one and all when he said that he is thinking of “quitting the space.” But now, Mamata Banerjee’s TMC has roped in Prashant Kishor’s IPAC till the next assembly election in 2026.
Reportedly, IPAC will continue to operate from Kolkata, with TMC looking to play a bigger role in national politics ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Here, the Trinamool Youth Congress Committee will go on play a much greater role in the social media campaign.
Prashant Kishor meets Sharad Pawar, Shah Rukh Khan
A few days ago, IPAC boss Prashant Kishor had a meeting with Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar for lunch in Mumbai. The four-hour meeting with the Maharashtrian politician at his home had started a buzz about the national alliance to take on the BJP in 2024. It goes without saying that Kishor has been the brain behind the success of Mamata Banerjee and MK Stalin in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu Assembly elections respectively.
The successful poll strategist had also called on Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan at his home Mannat in Mumbai. Reportedly, it was a small courtesy call and both are said to friends for more than three years. Shah Rukh was introduced to Prashant Kishor by Mamata. However, there is speculation that their discussions might have an impact on the 2024 election.
It goes without saying that BJP had managed to make enough dent in Bengal politics. Despite the influence, the “Duare Sarkar” scheme and “Bangla Nijer Meyekei Chaye” slogan has worked in TMC’s favour. These were some of Prashant Kishor’s masterstrokes that are believed to have swung the tide in favour of TMC. TMC secured a third term in office by winning 213 seats in the 2021 West Bengal Assembly.
During the Bengal assembly election, Prashant Kishor had talked of “quitting this space”. “I do not want to continue what I am doing. I have done enough. It is time for me to take a break and do something else in life. I want to quit this space. I am a failed politician. I have to go back and see what I have to do,” he said.Attachments area
